Manhattan Website Development Firm Explains Why Some Business Websites May Not Be living up to Their SEO Potential

When it comes to Search Engine Optimization, there are three common problems that can prevent websites from ranking well among the major search engines.

“There are three common problems associated with business websites that can prevent them from being able to achieve high rankings,” explains Crisafi. “Even if a business is offering their target audience exactly what they want, their website may be preventing them from reaching that target audience.”

One of the most common problems among business websites, according to Crisafi, is that their pages are filled with images and codes which search engine spiders simply cannot understand.

“Websites that use a lot of JavaScript and Flash, need to be developed in such a way so that search engine spiders can explore and understand what the business is about quickly and easily,” he says. “Another problem with many business websites is that they fail to properly use keywords and recognize the significance that they have when it comes to search engine optimization.”

Crisafi says that if a business website is going to be ranked appropriately among the major search engines, targeted keywords must be present, both on the back-end of the site and within the content.

“There must be a balance, however, when it comes to using targeted keywords,” explains Crisafi. “They must be placed appropriately so that the website’s content is not overshadowed by a company’s attempt to achieve a higher search engine rank.”

A third issue that can prevent a business website from getting the recognition it deserves from the major search engines is that its website’s robots.txt file isn’t actually allowing spiders to crawl the entire site.

“This is a serious problem which, when realized, must be rectified as soon as possible,” says Crisafi. “Businesses that may be struggling to get the search engines to notice them may be unintentionally blocking their web crawlers from indexing their web pages.”

Crisafi explains that achieving a good spot on the major search engines is not easy, but by correcting some of these simple issues, he says that a business can be well on its way to SEO success.
